Matcha Green Tea & White Chocolate Cookies Recipe
Is there anything better than freshly baked, homemade cookies? Whether you prefer a crunchy or a chewy cookie with fruit or chocolate, there are so many ways to experiment with different textures, flavours and ingredients when it comes to these sweet treats. This recipe’s star ingredient is matcha, which gives the cookies that iconic green colour and delicious taste. Here at Oriental Mart, we stock countless ingredients (including matcha) to make trying all your favourite Asian dishes and recipes at home that much easier.
What is Matcha?
Matcha is a form of powdered green tea. The leaves are grown under shade, which helps give them that vibrant green colour. The leaves are steamed and dried before being ground into a fine powder. This powder is then whisked into water, meaning you consume the whole leaf rather than just enjoying tea infused in water like you would with tea bags or loose leaf tea. Matcha is thought to have numerous health benefits and is an important part of Japanese tea ceremonies. Nowadays, matcha is incorporated into various other snacks and foods to provide its signature flavour and colour.
