What Does Kimchi Taste Like?
New to the world of kimchi? It’s well worth trying if you ask us!
Kimchi is typically made with napa cabbage or Korean radish and a couple of fragrant additions like chilli or gochugaru, ginger, garlic and fish sauce. These ingredients are fermented together, blending acidic, sweet and spicy flavours.
Some people liken kimchi to sauerkraut as it has a similar tang – although the actual flavour is slightly more complex thanks to the addition of the chilli.
Kimchi has a delicious umami flavour and pairs brilliantly with a range of classic East Asian dishes. Kimchi bokkeumbap is one of the most popular dishes that features kimchi, which sees it combined with fried rice for an instant, tasty meal.
