Zhengfeng is a major Chinese producer of dried fruits, farm produce, processed foods, and spices. Zhengfeng, or Zheng Feng's, Cordyceps Militaris are dried fungi, which have gained notoriety in recent years due to the video game, and now TV series, The Last of Us. In the show and game, a mutant Cordyceps infects humanity and turns billions into wandering, zombie-like creatures. The real Cordyceps perform a similar function on insect populations, acting as a parasite and using insects as hosts to spread their spores. It all sounds a bit ghoulish, but Cordyceps actually have a wide range of health benefits to human beings. They have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries and are believed to be useful in the treatment of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, liver and kidney issues, and with sexual dysfunction.
