what is soju?
Soju is a clear spirit that is sometimes referred to as ‘Korean vodka’. Traditionally, it’s made from a blend of rice and grains, although some are made with other forms of starch, such as sweet potato or wheat.
Regular soju has a relatively neutral taste, with an element of sweetness. Alongside original Korean soju, you can also find a range of fruity flavours, including things like strawberry, grape and plum.

soju alcohol content
Soju is around 20% alcohol, compared to the usual 40% for vodka, so soju is less harsh and more neutral than other spirits.
Because it’s so versatile, soju can be used in a range of cocktails, bringing a refreshing twist to your favourite drinks. For a bit of inspiration, see our best soju cocktails to make at home.
