Cooking With Tofu

There are various different types of tofu, so it’s important you buy the right variety that’ll suit your dish. Firm tofu is by far the best kind to use for a dish like this as it retains its shape and will take on the flavour of marinades and sauces excellently. Firm tofu is one of the most common types, so this is likely what you’ll see in the supermarket.

Tofu Sesame Ingredients

  • firm tofu, cut into chunks
  • cornflour
  • sesame oil
  • soy sauce
  • mirin
  • chilli crisp
  • honey
  • garlic
  • chilli & spring onion
  • sesame seeds

How to Make Sesame Tofu

  1. Slice the tofu into thumb-sized chunks (or smaller if you prefer) and coat in a layer of cornflour.
  2. Heat a dash of oil in a frying pan and fry the tofu until it becomes crisp.
  3. In a bowl, combine the sesame oil, soy sauce, mirin, chilli crisp, honey and sesame seeds.
  4. Add the garlic, chilli and spring onion to your pan before coating everything with the sauce, mixing to ensure the tofu is covered.
  5. Serve with veggies and a fried egg if you’d like.
