Crazy Korean Cocktails To Enjoy This Summer

18 May 2017

With the summer soon to be upon us, our mouths are already watering at the thought of sipping refreshing summer cocktails in the sunshine. You don’t always have to head out to your local bar to enjoy the sweet treats of cocktails, as they can all be made quickly and easily at home (for a slice of the price too!) If you’re looking for a recipe with a twist, these cocktails recipes will not disappoint, with a splash of Korean alcohol and a little something special in each!

1. Ice Lolly Loving

This is a refreshing drink that is perfect for those hot summer days, and is wonderfully versatile too! Offering a dessert and drink in one, this recipe is one that you will keep coming back to time and time again. Pick your favourite ice-lolly (be it a Twister or a Calippo) and add it into this delicious recipe for a fun twist!

· Ice lolly (of your choosing)

· 1 can of Chilsung cider

· 1 shot of Soju

2. Myungjak Bobunja Daiquiri

A Korean classic, myungjak wine is a firm family favourite at all times of the year, but with an easy alteration, you can create the ultimate summer alternative. This recipe couldn’t be simpler, simply place the sweet raspberry flavoured wine into a blender with a cup full of ice and blend. You can add in some extra fresh or frozen raspberries if you wish (or as a garnish) to give it a flavour boost, then simply pour into a glass and enjoy!

· 250ml Myungjak Bobunja

· Handful of fresh/frozen raspberries

· Ice cubes

3. Soju Mojito

Who doesn’t love a mojito? Well, this twist will make you love them even more! You can switch it up to change the flavours by adding fresh fruit, or choosing a different flavour of Soju; raspberry, peach and yuzu are particularly popular alternatives! All you need to do is crush the mint leaves and lime together with 1 tsp. sugar syrup in a glass, add the ice, then pour over the Soju shots, top up with soda water/lemonade and stir!

· 10 fresh mint leaves

· 2 shots of Soju

· Soda water/lemonade

· Crushed ice

· 1 lime

· 1 tsp. sugar syrup

4. Soju & juice

This is more of a classic drink rather than a cocktail, but still equally delicious, and very versatile; think gin and juice Korean style! You can take your pick of fruit juice, from kiwi and strawberry to apple; whatever takes your fancy! Pour the shots of Soju into the juice and mix with ice; it’s really that simple. However, if you want to make it extra special, why not cut up the fruit of your choosing and add that to the drink too?

· 1 cup of fruit juice

· 2 shots of Soju

· Ice cubes

· Fresh fruit (optional)

5. Soju yoghurt

This drink originated in Korea but has proved a popular choice all around Asia over the last few years. The sweet and tangy flavour is simply delightful, and quite unlike anything else you will have tasted! It may sound a little unusual at first, but trust us it is a taste sensation! Mix all the ingredients together with ice and enjoy!

· Drinking yoghurt (e.g. Yakult/Actimel)

· Lemonade

· 2 shots of Soju

· Ice cubes
