What is a Sukiyaki Hot Pot?
Sukiyaki is a one-pot dish, similar to a hot pot. The meal is usually composed of thinly sliced beef and assorted vegetables that are simmered in a sweet soy sauce.Typically, the meal is cooked at the dinner table using a shallow cast iron pot and portable stove. Ingredients usually consist of leafy vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, and beef cooked in a delicious sauce made of mirin, soy sauce, sake, and sugar.
Is Sukiyaki the Same as a Hot Pot?
Although it is typically eaten out of a pot, sukiyaki is technically not a hot pot. This is because sukiyaki does not contain any soup or stock; instead, its recipe incorporates a sauce.
